Apple Varieties and other Windy Hill Apple Farm Products

September Apples

September apples are varieties such as Redfree, Jonafree, Liberty and Scarlet O'Hara which ripen from the end of August to the beginning of October.

October Apples

These October apples are available from late September and into November. They include Crimson Crisp, Enterprise, Romeo/Juliet and GoldRush.

Storage Apples

Enterprise - A semi-sweet large red apple that is great for eating and salads. It remains sweet and juicy as it mellows in storage.

GoldRush - A complex medium-sized yellow/gold apple that stays crisp and juicy and can be used for eating, pies, sauces, and salads.

Red Raspberries

Heritage is fall bearing, ready to be picked when the apples ripen. Excellent for eating out of hand, salads, freezing and canning.

Cider Products

Sweet Cider - A blend of tart and sweet apples that always includes either Liberty or GoldRush apple juice.

Hard Cider - We make our Hard Cider from the sweet cider of our apples with the yeast naturally present in our orchard. This process requires at least six months, sometimes more, but yields what is referred to as a farmhouse cider in that it uses what is naturally available at the farm and is slow and unhurried in the farmhouse cellar.
